Nate Bargatze is one of my favorite comedians at the moment. He did so well hosting. Honestly the only SNL episode I watched lately lol.

The closest I can find is that he just seems like such a smug asshole.
Check out Tom Scott Plus! He challenges himself a lot on that channel and pushes himself out of his comfort zone! I think it’s a great display of his humility and shows him outside of his usual role as more of a narrator on his main channel.
Some of my favorites from the plus channel are the episodes where he gives his producer a tattoo, overcomes his fear of rollercoasters, and tries to learn wrestling.
If they’re really just after data at all costs, they could easily spin up an instance that has no apparent link to threads and federate secretly. I agree with other arguments about not federating with them but idk, all these data privacy arguments against federating with threads are so dumb. If they want it, they’ll get it because getting it is so absurdly easy.
Not sure what you mean. They can already pull any public data on lemmy, as can anyone else.
Dude. Have you been to taco bell? You can get a well over 2000 calorie meal for like $15
Welcome to lemmy. I hate big corporations but some of the people on this site will blame amazon when they stub their toe.
I assume because some fucking ghoul noticed people liked taking them for their cars so now we just don’t get napkins!
They were probably just out and too busy to restock or something. It happens. Never been to a fast food place where they don’t provide napkins and I steal napkins from the taco bell I live near regularly. What a weird overreaction.
This meme will now be my desktop image.
Aero is the name of the windows UI design, but it’s also a major defining factor of the wider frutiger aero aesthetic that was prevalent in loads of other tech and marketing at the time. I recommend reading the link you sent because it just backs up what I said.
Fruitigo ero is more about the glossy UI design of the windows vista/7 era than those photographs.
I really, really suspect that the big Lemmy instances are being run by Reddit admins or spooks or some-such. They’re moderating their instances in the exact same way Reddit did minus the profiteering. The censorship is the exact same.
It’s just the reality of online content moderation. The good mods/admins are people who are passionate about a topic and want to provide a space for discussion and community building. When it comes to the “power mods” or whatever, like those we saw on reddit who moderated 100+ subs, they’re just in it to stroke their own egos.
Yeah it’s honestly insane. Getting to the point where I think I’m just going to filter out the technology and politics communities despite being interested in the content and in some of the discussions. There are so many over the top toxic people on lemmy. In one of the youtube adblocking threads, there was a guy who said something along the lines of “honestly it’s worth it for me to have youtube premium” and he was downvoted and called a paid google employee. Like it’s so absurd. You can’t say anything that goes against the circlejerk without being dogpiled on. It’s behavior that’s far worse and more consistently worse than anything I’ve ever seen on reddit. It’s not the first time I’ve seen stuff like that. I remember all the backlash when sync came out. I like the app and the dev so I paid for it but all these FOSS bros were acting like the dev is the second coming of Hitler for daring to make money for his work. It’s exhausting. I hate ads and subscriptions but I need to live my life at some point and just begrudgingly accept them. I can’t spend all day seething about it like a lot of people on lemmy do. Again, it’s just kind of exhausting reading a lot of threads now. I thought I was going crazy but it’s nice to see that other people have similar observations.
Probably would be difficult if you can’t see, though.
Nate Bargatze had a pretty good joke about the same premise:
Loads of instances don’t require an email to sign up so that doesn’t make any sense.
I used some dating apps on and off for about 4 years and got probably a couple dozen or so genuine not bot matches. Most of which didn’t last for more than a message or two. Even ran my profile by some of my women friends who I trust and they said it looked good. While obviously it works for some people, the experience for most people isn’t that great. These apps make their money by keeping people on the platform so getting matches goes against their main profit motive. The traditional methods work a lot better.
Yes, because no one has ever smoked before they reached the legal age.
Usually if you complain you can get a real refund. The other post was Amazon and they usually bend over backwards to make customers happy. Still pretty shitty that you have to jump through some hoops, though.
Oof that’s a bummer.
It had some really rough moments intertwined with some really well done moments. Overall it’s fine. The shots of the cities and some of the fights were beautiful. I also really liked some of the zuko and iroh backstory that wasn’t in the original show. Some of the dialogue was very clunky and they mashed up a bunch of stories into the same episode which felt weird and didn’t totally work. I enjoyed watching it for the most part. It was never going to be as good as the original so I think going in with that expectation helped.
