Thank you, I feel very good about my chances this go around. I’m sober because I’m a better person when I don’t drink. Up until now, I also very purposefully surrounded myself with high risk drinkers, so I knew I would not have any friends going on this journey with me.
Drinking, finally for good I hope! I’m 3.8 years in. I first blacked out at 12 and was drinking liquor regularly by 14 so booze was my way of life. I can’t socialize very well as I am naturally super awkward then never honed my “don’t be super weird” skills, but I’m finally free to live my life how I want!

YES THIS! I’ve been saying over and over since 2016 - I read almost exclusively dystopic sci-fi and many books have a point where the reader thinks “run this is getting too bad it is the time to go”. I’m thinking specifically when June has no money in her bank account (yes it’s a tinge too late even then). So I’ve been trying to figure out when that point in our story will be and last year decided it is id Trump is elected again. We are a lost country and evil has won at that point.
It was an abrasive statement, but as a vegetarian who still loves cheese and eggs, there is a lot of truth in it. Much US large-scale farming harms the animals, workers, and environment. The animal feed land could be used for crops. Eating primarily meat and little else is not nutritionally complete. Large swaths of the rainforest are cut down to raise beef cattle. End of the day you are unnecessarily killing an innocent creature because it tastes good. People don’t want to hear these things, they want a bacon double double. They want waygu. That’s the cognitive dissonance that makes people mad. Again, I eat eggs that aren’t always ethically sourced and who knows about my delicious cheese, but I’m not getting up in arms trying to claim I’m still a great person when I’m wrist deep in queso.
For me, outrage at tearing an image implies the subject is beyond reproach and that concept itself is extremely concerning / problematic.
Any individual possessing more than a lifetime’s worth of money. Like after you have $30 million the rest goes into a bucket for everyone else to use. You can re-up from the bucket once you drop below mmmm a 5 year amount of money say $2 million. You can still amass bazillions of dollars, just not kajillions.

Edgelords gonna edge. You like something common and popular? Well I don’t because I’m incredibly unique and tragically misunderstood - just like the other thousands of people whose sentiments I echo. Replying makes me a hypocrite, but pondering other’s self-imposed misery is a waste of your time. If we magically exterminated these pesky “x” all that pissy emotion would just transfer to the hot new “y”. Any reason to complain will do. It’s the act itself that releases the cortisol.

My longest endeavor at the moment is getting my orchid to bloom prolifically (3 years), drying the blooms so they maintain their color (2 years) dipping them in epoxy so I 3D eternal blossoms and now I have 12 beautiful hardened orchid flowers I am figuring out what to do with. My husband has the same interest but uses more tech. We figured out how to print and assemble an impossible table to hold my miniature cactus. We both love tinkering for the joy of creatively problem solving.

Fair point. I was thinking about an in home aid, which my partner did for 7+ years with developmentally impaired adults. It was rarely dangerous and the employees were prepared for each unique client, which they could spend years with if they chose to stay. The lack of professional training is not ideal nor fair to either party, but neither this is world we live in and those folks need aids who care. If you want to mostly hang out with folks and make a meaningful impact this would be a way to do that.
Everything except world-seer can be done as an at home aid for the elderly or folks with developmental differences. Pay is shit and you may have to do personal care things, but you also mostly hang out with generally nice or at least docile folks. But then there also can be random anger and poop. Scarily enough you usually need little to no qualifications for this work.
I have coined the term hifellowkidsing when I struggle and fail to relate to teens. As in “I heard the neighbor kid loudly bumping what sounded like Eminem so I totally hifellowkidsed him and asked whether or not it was. He rolled his eyes and ignored me”. My only comfort is I was a horrible snot at that age, so I have karmically earned every belabored sigh and humiliated grimace.
