Hard disagree with that, DDG searches are accurate about 90% of the time that I use it (which as a web dev is quite a lot) if they aren’t hitting Google with the same term rarely wields any better results.

I’ve seen a few video games and movies that I’ve gone on to look into from YouTube ads.
90% of them are total annoying bollocks though.
/r/webdev and /r/formulae are the main ones I miss.
This is how I do it.
I pay for Netflix, Prime (only really for the free shipping), Disney+, Apple TV+ and Spotify, if it’s not on any of these then I’m going to pirate it.
The whole exclusivity stuff is just rubbish, I get the reasoning but if you can’t make your content easily accessible then I just don’t want to pay for it.
YSK that YouTube Premium can be bought over a VPN for a whole lot less than the regular retail price, it’s a bit fiddly to set up but I’ve got a Nigerian based family account that costs me £1.76 a month.
Both of these.
American Gods really pissed me off though if they had stuck to the books it could have been an amazing series with great characters and weird but fun storylines in a unique setting. But they added too much stuff and there was a total mess with the show runners leaving so it all sort of fell apart before one of the best plot lines of the whole story.
I kinda want to rewatch it again someday though…
I have friends who are big time LOTR fans who absolutely hate it and didn’t get past the first couple of episodes.
Me - who has no context around the whole thing - found it kinda entertaining :/
I think I got my .fun for about £2 from names.co.uk usually price for a .com is £30.
I’ve found most weird TLDs are cheaper than classic ones, but there are some exceptions (.app and .io comes to mind)
I like Invasion but it’s always felt like popcorn entertainment, silly contrivances that advance the plot, characters that do things out of character, a decent amount of action but nothing particularly deep and hardly “prestige” TV like The Last Of Us.
So - for me - the first episode felt pretty on-brand.
It is very different:
That’s just the stuff off the top of my head, there is probably more.
Sorry, missed the Android requirement.
It has just been released for windows though
If you want something a little different, try arc it doesn’t behave like pretty much any browser I’ve used but it’s certainly a unique take on it
I find NextDNS seems to work pretty well.
Obvious answer is obvious
Fight Club
Needed office for my Mac, internet was terrible and I couldn’t find it legitimately to download anywhere (these were the days before Office 365)
Took a shot at an eBay listing, got sent a burned DVD with an OEM product key written on it sharpie
It worked, but I wasn’t particularly happy
Because job hopping is scary as hell (especially for developers who struggle with imposter syndrome) and job hunting is generally shitty.
What if I don’t like the new place? What if I can’t feed my wife and kids? What if I’m actually terrible at this and my current place is so stupid they haven’t figured that out? What if the economy tanks in the next couple of months and I’m out on my ear with no severance pay?
Better to stay put, accept slightly less money for another year and look at it again when I’ve got the time and energy to cope with it.
Not OP, but those people are just not my friends any more.
We had one person in our group say she wanted to delete facebook and we were all “Yea, alright then” and just moved that group to discord.
I’ve still got an account but use it way less these days since all the people I really cared about were in that group.
WhatsApp for family Discord for friends Slack for work iMessage / SMS for everyone else
Their software is very early and honestly not quite fully baked yet.
The search engine is great though!
Tom seems like one of the most genuine people on the internet, he fact checks the crap out of everything (going out of his way to issue corrections when he is wrong - which just never happens) and produced exceptionally high quality and interesting content every damn week.
I’m slightly sad he’s giving up now only because I only discovered his channel a year or so ago and I’m not going to have new things to show my kids as they grow into an age of watching more educational content.
I can only wish him the best of luck with whatever comes next.
(Also, he deserves an MBE or something…)
