Terrorism is actually a pretty simple but specific definition. Terrorists use unlawful violence and threats of violence to influence the government or an international governmental organisation, or to intimidate the public. They do this in pursuit of a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.
It doesn’t take much money or many resources to engage in violence or even make threats. Certainly having money and resources at your disposal make you more effective but it’s a rather low but still specific bar to cross to be considered a terrorist.
If you’re not going to take the effort type “can a government use patents” into Google and look at the top link. It took me less than a minute to find that government using a patent is just baked into the patent system. There’s not additional law around it. So it might be better to go the WD 40 route and never actually file a patent to the formula to avoid sharing the formula publicly.
That’s… not how eminent domain works…? Like it’s scope only applied to stuff like building sidewalks, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure.
Because it’s a lot easier for Disney to churn out mickey mouse cartoons than it is for General Electric to come up with an entirely new rotating joint for the helicopter mounted motorized minigun
For using volume measurements (weighs are still superior tho) flour shouldn’t be packed in but spooned into the measuring device and leveled with the back of a knife but brown sugar should be packed into the measuring device.
In recipes, they’ll call for a heaped teaspoon or tablespoon, everything else is implied to be leveled, especially leavening agents like baking powder/soda. There’s also an understanding that certain things don’t need as much precision, like adding in flavoring extracts.
I also do really like the nice even 25° increments that recipes align to for farenheight.
Why must you bestow this cursed knowledge upon us?
You’re asking an age old question about humanity that there is no answer beyond “humans are horny motherfuckers.”
There’s a lot more that Buttplug.io supports. It’s an entire open source framework that others can build stuff onto to control sex toys. As for why these? Eh why not? Single player games don’t exactly require the consent of other players if you’re getting your rocks off to game controlled sex toys, and multi-player games should only be used if you do actually have consent.
Specifically for ultrakill’s officially supported mod, that’s just the kind of thing they’d do. They also made body pillow covers of Gabriel and V1 as official merch. And yes they are in those kinds of poses.
Yup and Ultrakill has an officially released mod that integrates with Buttplug.io.
Even as citizens there is precedent for legal violence, like carving out space for self defense. And the existence of combat sports like Boxing, Wrestling, and MMA.
The best definition we have for terrorism is the threat or use of illegal violence to influence the people beyond the immediate area of the attack to achieve a political, religious, ideological or monetary goal.
It’s not necessarily making a moral judgement about terrorism, just how it works. Al Qaeda is a terrorist organization because they used violence and threatened more with the goal of influencing US foreign policy on the basis of Fundamentalist Islamic theology. The IRA were also terrorists for their use and threats of violence with the political goal of unifying Ireland as one nation and taking it back from the British monarchy. Even the Founding Father’s of the US could be considered terrorists by this definition. They destroyed property and killed British citizens in our bid for independence affecting the decisions of the monarchy and parliament an entire ocean away.
I think Latin America is dealing a lot more with the societal trauma decades of being an ideological battleground of espionage and toppled governments replaced with puppet dictatorships for the interest of foreign global hegemony.
But if all things were equal among all nations and they didn’t have to worry about decades of socioeconomic trauma, I think nations with really high populations will have a clear advantage because they have a much wider selection of potential athletes to pull from.
That too is a strong possibility but if the container airtight it probably shouldn’t see a ton of loss of flavor mover time. And a lot your major soy sauce is predominantly just salty and savory without much of other complex flavors going on.
Probably based how much salt is actually in the sauce. High enough salinity will basically kill any potential nasties.
My dad had to wait 6 months just to get an appointment for a doctor to recommend ankle surgery surgery which took place another 6 months later. So we have wait times just as bad as any other country.
That’s the way it is with every platform, you only have a comparatively small proportion of people who do a huge share of the posting.
Reddit has the advantage of being absolutely massive that the power posters is also still a huge number. I’d imagine even the biggest of entire Lemmy instances is smaller than some of the major subreddits, which personally I’m fine with. This emmy instance isn’t some major corporation beholden to growing value for shareholders at all costs, but on the other end it still doesn’t mean the admins can do everything without monetary or labor support from us.
It’s not that it’s hard to learn, it’s that we don’t have a strong intuition. It’s not that difficult to know there are 12 inches in a foot and 3 feet in a yard or that metric is entirely based around factos of 10. But its the intuition of what an inch looks like, what a pound feels like to hold in you hand. Most people wouldn’t be able to pick up an object and say, “that weighs about a pound” or look at an object and say “that’s about 3 feet long” but a lot of people do have an intuition what an energy drink can looks and feels like and can imagine getting hit by one, a lot of people have picked up a pineapple at the grocery story, people have the intuition of how big a football field is or how big a city bus is.
We do such a shit job at teaching our own actual measuring system that nobody has an intuition what a pound feels like, what an inch and a foot look like and how to scale those up. So we resort to objects and comparisons instead of actual measurements.
Might want to qualify that as if there’s a magic/ special sword.
