Its meant to save you a step. Before at whole foods you had to get out your phone, open the amazon app, scan your prime QR code, then get a card and pay. This just does all that with an enrolled palm.
I still don’t trust it. I laughed at it when I saw it and even the clerk admitted it was dumb.
For me, it is about removing an attack vector crazy people might use. We live in a time where people can seek revenge for the pettiest things. In thepastt, I had gotten into an argument on reddit over something harmless and they doxxed me and sent a warning to my house. I deleted everything and overhauled my privacy.
This is the way. I’m basically only online at work now. Once I’m home I just smoke a bowl and relax offline. I’ve been making music a bunch lately and going on photo walks. I used to play video games to pass the time but even those are awful now.
I agree for sure, I commented on a spoiler post just the other day on the Formula E community about this same thing.
On reddit they used vague titles like “congrats to the Monaco GP winner!” And then have the drivers image as the post. That should be common courtesy.

I try to navigate everywhere with organic map. If I need to look up a business’ coordinates, I use a web container of gmaps I found on f-droid. If I go somewhere and it isn’t in open maps, I add it.
