I was a big fan of his earlier stuff growing up and know all about him. He wasn’t a manic depressive and he received recognition immediately when he started his music career. Any struggles he had in his life are kind of undercut by the montage of cool shit in the music video. No reference to amphetamines or painkillers, just his long and storied career.

Context aside, he just doesn’t sound good in the song. He sounds like any old man singing…which is why I said nobody would be gushing over it if it were not him.

Unrelated but I hate his lyric change in Hurt almost as much as what Cee Lo did to Imagine.

This is an awful summary. Why is it getting upvoted?

I just don’t get the appeal and have never figured out what his version brings to the table…he wasn’t exactly a tortured artist and the music video is half him looking sad at a piano, half archival footage of all the cool things he did in his life.

I feel like if Johnny Cash wasn’t The Man In Black, that recording would have stayed in the studio.

[Edit] I know he had struggles, that’s not what a tortured artist means. If you’re gonna reply at all, address my opinion on the quality. What does it add other than a self-aggrandizing Jesus comparison? Would the song have any recognition if not for the singer?

The lesser of two evils is still evil but in our binary voting system, abstaining IS giving your vote to the greater evil. It’s the trolley problem and the default position of the lever is sending it at the worse outcome.

But if not pulling the lever makes you sleep better at night, I’m sure all the additional people suffering will understand…

Yeah, I lived alone at the time so we were around each other constantly. Especially after the lop passed, the white one clung to me even when I got her a new friend.

I don’t mean this condescendingly, but maybe that’s why they’re harder to train! Mine were completely free range except for one room they weren’t in alone and another they were never allowed in (didn’t want to rabbit proof)

Here’s two of em. The white one was my darling. She was the lop’s protector because he was a sick little guy

Not to say I didn’t like the others but I ADORED the one that knew commands. They were all rescues but the other two were neglected and had health problems so it took awhile for them to warm up to me and they didn’t live as long. The very trained one was with me for 12 years and followed me everywhere. She’d come running when I got home from work to meet me at the door, too.

I’ve had 3 and they were all as trainable as a cat. Ran to me when I called their names, used the litter box, and knew the command “periscope”

One of them knew “spin” and “kisses,” too

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I love YouTube and it really bums me out to have to drop it. My home account has been heavily curated over the past two decades and it’s pretty rare to see a video on my homepage from the shitty part of YouTube…now I’m getting ads and just closing the tab. I have a separate account just for listening to music on my work laptop and I’ve found a ton of new artists through it, too…not sure what I’m gonna do once it starts getting ads, too.

I have a Nebula subscription but only like 1/3 of the channels I watch are on there. And obviously none of the music
