You learn plenty by breaking and reinstalling. I don’t considering it an invalid option for a home user. I had to reinstall MacOS7/8 and Windows 95/98 so many times as a kid. Learned a lot doing it, sysadmin now 🤷♂️

Based off the Ubuntu 24.04 release, which already seems half broken, it’s perfect.
In counter strike it seems to manifest pretty quickly as misogyny.
“South Carolina, USA”… well that’s sadly makes sense. I need to convince my boss to let me be full time remote so I can leave.
ProgrammersAreHumanToo, great stuff.
I can’t speak for the strange bear, but I’ve been camping enough to know I make a noise when I shit in the woods.
Then there’s Google’s habit of completely ignoring the browser’s language settings so I have to sit though ads I don’t even understand
I used to occasionally watch YouTube on my lunch break when I would go into the office. I loved getting ads in Spanish, the office was in Greenville,SC not a large Spanish native population. I have premium on my account but don’t like signing in personal account on work machines.
Wine and Cedega back in the early days, I played WiW in the Vanilla days on Suse Linux. My first foray into Linux was 2002 on a system that was decent for the time. I have fond memories of the first time I got my GeForce 3 card actually doing hardware acceleration. glxgears rendered hundreds of FPS.
A wiki, documentation on their website(if they have one), a web forum that can be searched/indexed cached for later(instead of troubleshooting via discord. To me are the ideal solutions.
In Charlotte, NC where I last lived. They were building apartments like crazy, but all “luxury apartments” and charging $3-4/sq ft.
$1850/month for a 600sqft apartment wasn’t really sustainable for a lot of people.
Do I have a problem?
No -> Don’t Worry. Yes -> Can I do something -> No -> What the worst possible outcomes and how will I deal with them? Can I do something -> Yes -> What the worst possible outcomes and how can I negate them to only have best outcomes.
Worrying is good, preparedness makes it easier.
Outside of competitive shooters, which is my favorite genre to play on PC, a lot of stuff runs well through Proton. And that’s an issue of the anti-cheat systems.
Linux gaming isn’t for everyone, I play what I can on PC and have a PS5 for other experiences. There are plenty of games I wish I could play, but I’m not interested enough to dual boot windows. I would do vfio passthrough for a VM, if they weren’t getting better at detecting that.
Ultimately I have enough games I can play to stay busy.
There are places like North Carolina where I used to live that got snow once every 3 years or so, no real justification for having snow tires as that point. On the few occasions where it does snow everyone should just stay home, but some don’t have that luxury unfortunately.
As an Nvidia user this update with the Plasma(technically kubuntu i know), has made a big difference. Thoough Resolve doesnt open now :/
Kate in gui, nano in terminal
This is what I fear as well. I’m still running Kubuntu, as I have been for years. Next time I build a system it may just be time for Debian Testing or sid. I’ve been messing with both on some Intel NUCs I have laying around.
KPatience is my goto
I’ve ran the Linux native Valheim client for 100+ hours on my Kubuntu install and had zero issues with the game.
