Considering how long Apple has been putting neural cores in all their chips, and the speed at which their in house chips have outpaced competitors (like the M series for example), I feel like not only will Apple beat nvidia at this, Apple will do so by a decent amount.

That said, nvidia will continue to sell world wide in this market as Apple will keep their chips in only their own hardware, so if you’re not running a Mac/IOS device, you’ll be using nvidia chips.

Either way, even if Apple just keeps up, competition is still best for everyone, so I welcome this development.

Despite excellent reviews and good word-of-mouth from fans, Transformers One is having a bad time at the box office this weekend.

Is it really any good? Asking as someone who grew up with the Transformers from the 80’s on, every commercial/trailer I’ve seen for One seems lackluster and the animation style really cheap and off putting. Maybe it’s not an accurate representation of the film as a whole (wouldn’t be the first time)? Is the storyline enough to make up for it?

Interesting and sad to hear. Personally I’ve gone with Lenovo if I’m not going with Mac. Heck, My wife has a 2011 Lenovo which has been running flawlessly. The only thing I did was bump the RAM and put in an SSD when Win7 upgraded to 10. Maybe I just skipped the crappy years?

All joking aside, I haven’t had issues with Macs overheating in years, especially with the M chips. Last time I had an issue was when they tried to cram an i9 in a MBP.

Now the Dell laptops we have at work on the other hand, I’ve had to down clock them in bios so they don’t run at 100% or they will literally overheat just running windows. One of my coworkers has to run his upside down or it doesn’t get enough air through the vents to prevent it from auto shutting down due to thermal issues.

They don’t have asmany sales, but I’ve definitely scored some good prices on games here and there. They often run 20+% off on first party titles and non-first party gets deep discounts (I scored Rabbids for $4 a while back). I just wish they’d do the equivalent of PS Greatest Hits for like $20.

For some situations a console is nicer than a PC. Solid, consistent, single unit I can just connect to a TV and play. I’ve got a PC and I prefer it, but the average console is cheaper than my PC was and simpler for non-geek family members to boot up and play on a whim.

The kind of issues you run into “running the Internet” are not the same as the average desktop user. Most of those systems don’t even have a monitor attached, let alone a whole desktop environment or GUI.

I would argue that buying a $10-20 usb Bluetooth adapter is much preferred to giving my info and data and privacy away to Meta. Not to mention the other things you can use it for.

Personally I’m really glad Sony went with Bluetooth over some sort of proprietary tech.

We used turbo pascal in school in the early 90’s. And it had assembly blocks… which I used copious amounts of because it was the only way to make the IBM PS/1’s do useful graphics.

This is actually a really cool idea. I feel like this would even be good for adults!

There’s hardware video encoding/decoding support. I used a Pi3b+ to transcode video for a while and would easily get 2x or better on full 1080p video. The 4 is better and I’ve heard even better on the 5, but I’ve not had a compelling reason to spend that much to find out.

10yrs ago if have said yes… however, I feel like page 1 is only ads and images to ads and sponsored content so I end up on page 2 anyway, so now I have to click a button.

I will say that we’re definitely getting to a level of adblockers that the sites actively care about blocking content or warning about people using adblockers. It’s starting to affect their bottom lines.

I had an Athlon motherboard with voice POST messages… one night I woke up to it saying “your CPU has a problem!” over and over and was freaked out until I was completely awake and figure out what was wrong.

It wasn’t high quality coming through the piezo speaker, but it was good enough.

She looks like she’s under water (what with the fish and octopus) and they are on the same plane as the white outlines and other things in the image, like they’re reflections or clouds.

Kinda looks like it should be turned clockwise 90 degrees as she’s falling into the water. (You can tell because the way the tips of her hair are further towards the left like she’s sinking)

I mean, it’s a bit abstract, but there’s no evidence I see for them to be what you seem to be thinking they are.

Edit: actually it might be that there’s glass on the left like she’s in an aquarium with the fish and such. Again, “white blobs” are reflections.
