Later, you learn the Civil War was about a lot of complicated things. Ultimately, you learn that the Civil War was about slavery. Edit: And remember, Juneteenth is fairly close to commemorating this, especially with the current state of southern politics.

As a young child, you learn the Civil War was about slavery.
