Yeah I’m starting to see this as well. On my second or third day here and the front page is the same, I have to actively look for more. That’s going to drive away new folks

Most importantly, contribute to the discussion and start discussion threads!!
If everyone sits around watching the party, refugees are gonna come, take a look around, see all the “yeah we beat reddit” posts and nothing else, get bored and leave.
Hmm federation has its pros, but I wonder how many communities are so splintered across different instances that they haven’t had a chance to grow yet…
Oh that’s interesting. Kbin doesn’t quite work the same?
Oh? Why did beehaw defederate? Does that mean beehaw is cut off from everyone else?
Issue with lemmy in general: there’s no error message when your username is taken, or password doesn’t meet the requirements. I had to figure out by trial and error why my application didn’t go through
Five?? I just have an nsfw and a sfw one.
Why bother hedging?
The site seems to be down?
Yeah I just tell people to join lemmy.world or beehaw and look for “all” instead of local. If they’re interested, they’ll find out about instances later.
The casual reddit user just lurks though. If the active users move, the quality of the site will go down (even more).
You can block subs yourself, right?
I see lemmy.world as the most unrestricted and neutral instance now.
Do your part by posting. Or doing what redditors do best - repost!!
Yeah, new users aren’t going to be able to find communities easily here.
